What if I told you that the old files of rejection, and the need for acceptance, are messing with your emotions and prompting destructive decisions? Wouldn’t you want to clean out those junk files and reboot?

Internalizing God’s love and acceptance starts the reboot of your soul. God installed a new operating system in you the day you said yes to the gift of eternal life. However, malware, caching, and viruses are slowing things down—messing things up. If you don’t do something, your operating system may crash. It is time to install a new security program, clean out the old files, and remove the viruses. Once you do that; It’s Time To Reboot!

Your hardware is your body, soul, and spirit given to you by God. Your operating system is your mind, will, and emotions. The malware of your soul is introduced into your operating system by bullies, haters, and those who want to dominate, manipulate, and control you—to benefit themselves. Caching represents input from others that can be helpful but can also slow you down if overdone. Introducing viruses to your soul symbolizes watching or listening to destructive influences, making unhealthy choices, and following messed up people.

In this section, we will look at how to install new security software for our souls. We will clean out old files of rejection, clear out unwanted caching, and protect ourselves from destructive influences and poor choices. To reboot is to shut down everything that could make us crash and reload with that which makes us flourish.

  • Install a New Security Program
    • When you embrace God’s acceptance, the malware of bullies, haters, and manipulators will no longer control your thoughts and emotions. You will make better decisions.
      • “Heavenly Father, I receive and embrace your love, forgiveness, acceptance, and righteousness now, in Jesus’ name. Help me experience you in each of these areas of my life, every day. Amen!”
  • Clean Out the Old Files
    • The old files of rejection, and the need for acceptance, are messing with your emotions and prompting destructive decisions.
      • “Dear God, I am tired of my negative emotional responses and the poor decisions that I make. As you forgave me, I now choose to forgive everyone who has hurt me, wounded me, abused me, and used me. I cancel their debt and release them into your hands now, in Jesus’ name. I declare I am now free from the old files of rejection. I replace those old files with the new files of YOUR love and acceptance. Amen!

Note: Once you forgive someone, make a wise decision whether it is healthy to invite them back in or to place them on the balcony of your life. Not everyone should have close personal access to your life.

  • Clear Out the Caching
    • Most people mean well, but their input can overwhelm us when going through a tough time. In hard times we may not need advice, suggestions, or a list of scriptures to memorize. We may just need a friend, someone who will listen to our frustrations without judging or trying to fix us. Sometimes, we just need someone to lean on!
      • “Holy Spirit, you are my comforter and friend. Sometimes I need someone with skin on. Help me be a friend to at least one other person and please connect me with someone who will be a close friend to me. Amen!”

  • Remove The Viruses
    • The viruses of unhealthy people are a reality in your world. You can find them in your workplace, church, community, and home. They may even show up in your mirror. Surround yourself with beneficial influences and great influencers.
      • “Loving Father, please give me the wisdom to remove myself from the destructive influences in and around my life. Bless me with the anti-virus protection of your love, forgiveness, acceptance, and righteousness. Help me rest in who I am in You. Give me the wisdom to create strong passwords that only allow me, and trusted friends, into the files of my life. Give me discernment concerning what attachments I should open and what links I should avoid. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
  • Note: You can protect yourself from “viruses” by reading God’s Word, prayer, finding an excellent church that teaches God’s love and grace, and developing close friends who are also wanting to Live Loved. Your motivation for doing these things must never be to gain God’s approval (you already have that). You don’t need to prove yourself, try to fit in, or perform religious duties. Your motivation should be to develop a close personal relationship with God and build relationships with people who love Him. Surround yourself with people who will celebrate who you are.

  • Reboot
    • Are you willing to shut everything down and restart the computer of your life? I am not talking about quitting your job, selling everything, and moving to a commune. I am talking about letting God Reboot your life with His love, forgiveness, and acceptance. Doing so includes allowing Him to install a new security program, clean out old files, clear out the caching, remove viruses, and replace it all with HIMSELF.
      • “Father, empty me of all that harms and hinders. Protect me from harmful influences and install your security software in my heart and soul. Reboot my life with Your love, Your Son, and Your Spirit. AMEN!”

Sincere prayers, such as those above, often change everything. However, if issues persist, the help of your Pastor or trusted Christian Counselor can be of great help. On your road to spiritual, mental, and emotional health, a trusted friend can help you clean out old files, remove viruses, and help you reboot. Commit the process to God, and He will make you whole.
